Bosch Recalls SkilSaw Miter Saws

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission, in co-operation with Robert Bosch Tool Corporation of Mount Prospect, Illinois, reported a deliberate inspection of some 22,149 mitre saws.

Danger: The drop guard may break during use and touch the cutting edge, posing a cutting risk to customers.

Episodes / injuries: The company has received no reports of episodes or wounds.

Illustration: The item tested is the SkilSaw® 10-inch composite mitre saw with model number 3316 and date codes 111, 112, 201, 202, 203 or 204. The model number and date code are located in the lower right half of the name plate on the engine compartment. The SkilSaw logo is displayed at the highest point of the top cutting monitor and on the back of the back.

Sold by: Lowe’s Home Centres Cross Country and OC Tanner from January 2012 to April 2012.

Remedy: Consumers should quickly stop using the mitre saw and contact Robert Bosch Tool Corporation for a replacement unit to defend against free drops.
